Anniversary Series: Cisco Ramirez

As Enova celebrates its 20th Anniversary, we will share stories from some of our most tenured team members to highlight their contributions and reflect on the company’s journey.

Name: Francisco Ramirez
Years at Enova: 18
Starting Year: 2006

What were your first impressions when you started, and how have they evolved over time?

My initial thought was simple: I hope this company lasts long enough to give me something new for my resume. Over the last 18 years, Enova team members have become like family to me. I have strong confidence that Enova will be around for a long time to come. Enova has evolved from an upstart in lending to a powerhouse that has proven resilient during tough times, but has also grown and continues to show how much it cares for its employees.

Can you discuss some of the roles you’ve held here and how your responsibilities have changed?

I started at Enova as a collections rep and became a manager. I wanted to join the tech team and moved into HelpDesk when there was an opportunity.  From Helpdesk, I was able to transition to the ITSYS team, TechOps and finally IT Risk. I’ve had responsibilities all across the organization from collections to, doing all different sorts of work in Helpdesk (facilities, networking, security, etc), bringing new systems online and maintaining them in ITSYS then making sure services across Enova were running smoothly in TechOps. Now, as part of the IT Risk team, I’m making sure  Enova is compliant and risk is low.

What is your favorite Enova Value and why? Has it changed over the years?

It is hard for me to single out one value as a “favorite.” I think each value has a specific, important meaning to me. Asking me to pick a favorite value would be the equivalent of being asked to pick your favorite child, it’s just not possible.

What projects are you most proud of, and why?

Being here for 18 years has given me the opportunity to work on many projects and initiatives: onboarding PagerDuty, Documentation and sharing knowledge. If I had to choose a few that I am most proud of, that hold a special place in my heart, I would have to say revamping the Documentation for TechOps and working on the Documentation initiative for Enova Tech.

Any advice for new hires starting their journey with us?

Be yourself, don’t be afraid to ask questions and don’t feel like you have to stay in the same role. I have changed roles many times while working at Enova. Enova and the managers here, not only make it easy to grow and have a fulfilling career, they encourage it.
